Dancer Poppin Hyun Joon opened up about his difficult childhood.

On the 30th, Poppin Hyun Joon and his wife, traditional musician Park AeRi, appeared on Channel A’s “Oh Eun Young’s Golden Clinic”.

That day, Poppin Hyun Joon said, “In the past, my father’s business failed during the IMF. My father went to prison as a financial criminal and my mother ran away,” and “so, I started living on the streets from the age of 16. I didn’t go to school,” revealing his challenging past during his teenage years.

He continued, “When I didn’t go to school for a month, the teacher scolded me and asked me to explain. The next day at school, my deskmate gave me a lunch box. I was so embarrassed when he said, ‘I heard from the teacher yesterday. Your family is broke, right?’. I went to the teacher and said, ‘Was my family’s ruin a joke to you?’ and quit school,” he recalled his past.

Poppin Hyun Joon, who confessed to living on the streets for two years, said, “During my homeless days, I couldn’t eat properly and suffered from malnutrition, even losing my fingernails. There was a time when I went to a dance audition, and I was hurt when people pointed at me saying, ‘A beggar has come’. I started to distance myself from people.”

He added, “I joined a dance team and practiced dancing with the members, which was a happy time, but after practice when everyone went home, I was left alone and felt a great void, even thinking that ‘I am a useless person’.”

Poppin Hyun Joon, who later succeeded as a dancer, revealed that he owns six supercars, saying, “I earn my own money and spend it.”

He added, “I discussed it with my wife beforehand,” and his wife Park AeRi said, “He didn’t buy all six at once. My thought is ‘Why should I say anything’. (Poppin Hyun Joon) always puts his family first.”

Meanwhile, Poppin Hyun Joon and Park AeRi got married in 2011 and have one daughter.

The couple, who are in their 14th year of marriage, revealed their unwavering affection by sharing their newlywed-like daily life.
