News1

Focus is drawn to the trial results of Himchan, a former member of the B.A.P idol group.

At 10 a.m. on the 1st, the 12th Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Kwon Sung Soo) conducted the first trial of Himchan, who is charged with violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using cameras, obscene acts using communication media).

The prosecution previously demanded a 7-year prison sentence for Himchan on the 16th of last month.

They also requested disclosing personal information, employment restrictions at child, youth, and disabled-related institutions for ten years, attachment of a location tracking device for three years, and a four-year probation order.

The prosecution said, “The victims are in extreme pain,” and “Considering the potential risk of re-offending and the significant influence idol singers have on teenagers, we ask for your consideration.”

At the trial held in the morning of the day, the 12th Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Kwon Sung-soo) sentenced Himchan to 3 years in prison with five years of probation.

Judge Kwon explained the reason for the sentence, stating, “The nature of the crime is not good, considering the circumstances and contents of the crime, the method of the crime, and the relationship with the victims.”

However, it was noted that Himchan admitted all his crimes and reached an agreement with all the victims, who did not want Himchan to be punished.

News1

This is already the third time Himchan has committed a sexual crime.

Himchan was previously sentenced to prison for molesting a woman in her 20s at a pension in Joan-myeon, Namyangju, in 2018 and was incarcerated.

Later, in 2022, he was indicted again for molesting two women at a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

During the trial, it was revealed that he sexually assaulted a woman in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, and filmed it using a camera, and even sent it to the victim, which sparked controversy.

Meanwhile, Himchan debuted as B.A.P. in 2012 and left the team and the agency after his contract expired in 2019.
