It’s a bittersweet time for K-pop and K-drama fans. While some of our favorite stars head off to fulfill their military service, others are gearing up for long-awaited discharges. Here’s a look at who’s coming and going in the first half 2024.
Song Kang confirmed his enlistment for April 2.
Song Kang’s agency, Namoo Actors, announced his upcoming enlistment on his official fan website. They wrote, “We want to express our sincere thanks to all the fans who shower Song Kang with love and share the news of his military service.”
There will be no official events on his enlistment day to prevent overcrowding accidents, and he will enter the training center privately.
Namoo Actors concluded their statement by requesting fans’ “warm love and support” as Song Kang serves his duty. They expressed hope for his healthy return “with even greater maturity.”
Debuting in 2017 with the tvN series The Liar and His Lover, Song Kang has been building his acting career with his performances in the series Love Alarm, Sweet Home, Navillera, Nevertheless, Forecasting Love and Weather, and My Demon.
Singer and actor Hwang Min Hyun is also preparing for enlistment.
According to Pledis Entertainment, Hwang Min Hyun is expected to fulfill his military duties starting April 21. On his enlistment day, no official events will be held at the training center.
To ensure a smooth enlistment process, the agency kindly requested fans to avoid visiting the enlistment site or alternative service workplace. They encourage sending messages of support through Weverse instead. With your continued love, they hope Hwang Min Hyun can diligently serve his duty and return healthy.
Hwang Min Hyun isn’t slowing down before enlistment. He’s treating fans to a solo fan meeting called The Secret Garden at COEX Artium in Seoul from April 8-10. Plus, he’ll be premiering a new song called “Lullaby” at the event.
Actor Na Inwoo and singer Park Jae Jung are preparing for enlistment this year.
Here are the stars to welcome back who’ve finished their military service and are ready to return to the spotlight.
Kang Tae Oh, who stole hearts in Extraordinary Attorney Woo last year, is finally counting the days until his discharge on March 19. He enlisted just a month after the show ended in September 2022, leaving fans with a major case of K-drama blues. But the wait is almost over, and many look forward to his return to the spotlight.
After enlisting in October 2022, singer Ha Sung Woon will be discharged on April 23. He left fans with a bang before his service, dropping his 7th mini-album “Strange World” and the catchy title track “FOCUS,” followed by a sold-out solo concert. Ha Sung Woon’s love for his fans shone through during his military service. He surprised everyone with “Snowy Stars,” a self-written single dedicated to his fandom HA:NEUL. With his discharge approaching, his fans are eager to see what musical magic he’ll create next.
All members of BTS are enlisted. Their entire group activities are expected to resume after June 2025.
Actor Cha Seo Won is also set to be discharged on May 21. He made headlines last June with his marriage and pregnancy announcement with actress Eom Hyun Kyung several months after his enlistment.
