Mamiko Tanaka, the wife of Major League Baseball (MLB) superstar Shohei Ohtani, is generating buzz for her modest lifestyle.

Tanaka recently made headlines on the 15th when she arrived in South Korea with her husband, Shohei Ohtani, at Incheon International Airport.

Many were interested in the black purse Tanaka carried to the LA Dodgers’ dinner party on the 16th, a day after their arrival. Given that Ohtani had signed one of the largest contracts in world sports history, people were curious about the brand of the bag.

However, her purse was from Zara, surprising everyone. Furthermore, the bag is available in South Korea for 49,900 won (approximately $42) and in Japan for 5,000 yen (around $44).

Later, on the 18th, Tanaka attended the 2024 MLB Seoul Series special match between the South Korean national baseball team and the LA Dodgers at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome.

Tanaka was spotted seated in the audience with a view of first base alongside Ohtani’s family. They drew attention by enjoying the game in regular seats, not VIP seats.

Meanwhile, when Ohtani signed a transfer contract with the Dodgers in December 2023, his signing bonus was $700 million. Adding additional bonuses and advertising revenue, his simple income is estimated to exceed KRW 1 trillion (approximately $745 million), earning him the nickname “The Trillion Won Man.” He is the first Asian to win MVP twice in the American Major League.
