Konnect Entertainment, an entertainment agency founded by singer Kang Daniel, is ultimately closing down its business.
On the 21st, JoyNews24 exclusively reported that Konnect Entertainment has recently decided to close down.
All agency employees were laid off or resigned, and the affiliated singers also decided to leave the company and go their paths.
Kang Daniel, who was both a singer under Konnect Entertainment and a representative of the agency, has recently been caught up in a lawsuit and decided to close his agency.
When his contract with the agency ends next month, he plans to close the company rather than continue to work as a one-man agency.
According to the media, about 20 employees of Konnect Entertainment were also laid off or resigned, and the company’s corporate vehicles were sold. The agency’s office building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was also liquidated earlier this year.
Kang Daniel established Konnect Entertainment in June 2019. At the time, it started as a one-man agency for Kang Daniel but recruited Chancellor, Yuju from GFRIEND, and dance crew We Dem Boyz. The agency also briefly partnered with rapper CL from the group 2NE1 for domestic management.
On the 20th, according to YTN, Kang Daniel filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the major shareholder of Konnect Entertainment on charges of forging a $7.3 million document, embezzlement, breach of trust in business related to aggravated punishment for specific economic crimes worth $1.4 million, violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, fraud charges worth about $1.4 million.
Kang Daniel’s side claimed, “The major shareholder of Konnect Entertainment used his position, embezzled company funds, and forged corporate seals by stealing identities, causing damages worth $10.2 million.”
