aespa’s ‘Armageddon’ Achieves Double Platinum in Just Hours After Release!

joynews24 Views

Aespa continues to ride the wave of success with their first full-length album, Armageddon, following the hit sensation of “Supernova.”

Released on May 27th, aespa’s debut album Armageddon dominates various global charts and shows its power.

Armageddon has topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 25 regions worldwide, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Chile. Not only did it record the group’s best performance, but it also topped the Worldwide iTunes Album chart.

Aespa also swept the charts on Chinese Tencent Music’s five integrated K-pop platforms and QQ Music’s digital album sales chart and received double platinum certification for exceeding sales of 2 million yuan (about $280,000) just three hours after its release. They also topped the overall and Korean music video charts, KuGou Music’s digital album sales chart, Japan’s local platform AWA’s real-time rising chart, and Mora’s foreign song latest and daily chart.

The title track “Armageddon” from aespa’s debut full-length album is making significant strides on major Korean music charts, including Melon, Bugs, and Genie. Other album tracks are also breaking into the TOP100. This success underscores the continued interest in Aespa’s music.

Previously, aespa scored a “perfect all-kill” with their hit “Supernova,” which dominated the Melon, Bugs, Genie, and other significant record charts in South Korea. With over 33 million streams on Spotify, the group has sustained its popularity, highlighting an intriguing internal rivalry between their tracks “Armageddon” and “Supernova.”

Armageddon is aespa’s first full-length album, released four years after their debut. It signals the birth of a well-made work that combines their unique concepts and identities. With pre-orders exceeding 1.02 million copies, it is forecasted to become a million-seller for the fourth consecutive time, following Girls, MY WORLD, and Drama.

The title track, “Armageddon,” is a hip-hop dance song with a heavy sound and a rough, restrained tone. The lyrics contain a message of meeting another “me” in different worlds and being reborn as a complete “me.”

Aespa, in a showcase, said, “‘Armageddon’ allows you to meet a ‘powerful aespa’ and a ‘hip aespa’ challenging old school. It’s a song that opens the second season of our world, containing the content of meeting myself in the multiverse and becoming a complete me. The message is ‘I can only be defined by myself.'” They confidently added, “‘Supernova’ has a tin can flavor, ‘Armageddon’ has an earthy flavor. It’s a deep, addictive taste that will grow on you the more you listen to it.”
