[Joy News24 Reporter Im Mi-young] Group NewJeans has concluded their activities for the mini album Get Up with a 7-week run at the top of the Inkigayo chart.

They added, “We will remember this for a long time as we were able to experience festivals with all the songs we have released so far. We sincerely love and appreciate our fans, Bunnies, who have always been with us.”

NewJeans has made new history for K-Pop with their mini album Get Up and has become a global sensation. After their debut, NewJeans reached the top of the U.S. Billboard 200 in the shortest period among all K-Pop groups and simultaneously placed their triple title tracks “Super Shy,” “ETA,” and “Cool With You” on the Hot 100 chart. NewJeans became the first K-Pop girl group to have three songs simultaneously enter the main Billboard chart, with “Super Shy” reaching a peak of 48 on the Hot 100, staying on the Billboard 200 for four consecutive weeks with Get Up.

Get Up also entered the U.K. Official Albums Chart at 15 and stayed for three weeks, while “Super Shy” peaked at 52 on the U.K. Singles Top 100 and is still on the chart for the 7th week.

Their achievements in the Korean market are undeniable. They dominated the weekly charts of major domestic music streaming platforms such as Melon, Genie, and Bugs for six consecutive weeks. They showed their strong presence in the physical album market. Get Up sold 1.65 million copies in its first week, ranking 2nd in the history of K-Pop female artists’ first-week album sales. It is currently approaching 1.9 million copies sold, on the verge of becoming a double million seller.

The expanded ‘NewJeans syndrome’ was confirmed at the Lollapalooza in the United States on the 3rd (local time) and at Summer Sonic in Japan on the 19th. More than 70,000 audiences gathered to see NewJeans, the first K-Pop girl group to perform on the Lollapalooza Chicago stage. Their performance at Summer Sonic in Japan also drew exceptional popularity, so admission was restricted during the noon performance.

Their explosive popularity on social media supported their success. Short videos using the song “Super Shy” were created in various countries such as Korea, the United States, India, the U.K., Turkey, and Brazil, with a total of 670,000 videos on YouTube Shorts and 940,000 videos on TikTok, creating a global challenge craze.
