Prominent Iranian film director Dariush Mehrjui (83) was found dead alongside his wife.

On the 14th (local time), major foreign media outlets reported that film director Dariush Mehrjui was found dead with his wife at his home in Tehran, Iran.

The initial discoverer was the director’s daughter, Mona Mehrjui, who found the crime scene after being invited to dinner via text message from her father.

According to Iranian official media, director Dariush Mehrjui and his wife, Bahideh Mohamadi Far, were killed by an unidentified assailant, and both had stab wounds on their necks.

The police reported that no signs of forced entry, such as a damaged door, were found at the scene, and some valuables were reported stolen.

Local police are currently investigating the exact cause of death and the suspect.
