A photo of the CEO of AirAsia, Asia’s largest low-cost airline, receiving a bare-body massage from a woman during a meeting has sparked controversy.

On the 17th (local time), U.S. business media outlet Business Insider revealed that Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia, posted a bare-body photo on his LinkedIn social media account the previous morning.

According to the report, Fernandes wrote, “It’s been a stressful week. Ranita Josephine, CEO of AirAsia Indonesia, suggested a massage,” and “I love the AirAsia culture where I can meet while receiving a massage.”

Also, Fernandes released a photo of himself sitting in an office chair without any clothes on. A woman, who appears to be a masseuse, massages Fernandes while she wears an apron, hair net, and mask.

The photo sparked a debate among international netizens. Some praised the relaxed and free company culture, but many pointed out it was oppressive and part of sexual harassment.

A marketing expert criticized LinkedIn, “There are hardly any people who would object or comfortably speak out against a boss who attends a meeting without a shirt on. Most women would feel uncomfortable.”

In response to this controversy, Business Insider requested a statement from AirAsia and AirAsia Indonesia but reportedly did not receive a response. Fernandes also quietly deleted the post from his social media.
