The girl group STAYC is smoothly sailing through their first world tour, TEENFRESH. While touring various U.S. cities, an unexpected event occurred when their choice of attire led to coverage by local media.

On the 24th (local time), the New York Times (NYT) and the British BBC reported an article titled, “K-pop group supports the wrong Rangers at Texas concert.”

According to the report, STAYC, during their concert in Dallas, Texas, on the 19th, wore the uniform of the Glasgow Rangers, a professional football team from Scotland, U.K., instead of the U.S. professional baseball team, Texas Rangers.

The coordinator focused only on the word “Rangers” and mistakenly selected the wrong attire.

Previously, in New York, STAYC wore the uniforms of the U.S. professional baseball teams, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, and in Chicago, they correctly wore the uniforms of the American football team, the Chicago Bears, and the professional basketball team, the Chicago Bulls.

According to the BBC, the Glasgow Rangers’ uniform worn by a STAYC member was from the 1996 season, during which Glasgow won the Scottish league.

This could have been a significant incident that upset sports fans in both countries, but the U.S. and the U.K. treated the event as fun, reporting, “Fans are finding this incident amusing.”

Notably, the New York Times portrayed the mistake in a friendly manner. Some speculate this was due to the Texas Rangers’ victory in the Major League Baseball American League Championship Series the day before, which allowed them to challenge for the World Series title for the first time since their establishment.

Meanwhile, in February, STAYC received a warm reception from global fans following the release of their fourth single album, Teddy Bear, and their third mini-album, TEENFRESH, in August. They plan to meet more fans as they continue their first world tour across 11 cities until next year.
