According to the police on the 1st, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul is investigating a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, on charges of abandoning a baby, leading to death.

Ms. A reported to the police at around 9:40 a.m. on the 30th of last month, “I gave birth to a baby in the bathroom early in the morning, but I couldn’t cut the umbilical cord.”

Subsequently, it was reported that the paramedics who responded to the call found a dead baby wrapped in plastic at Ms. A’s residence.

According to the police investigation, it is presumed that she gave birth to the baby alone at home on the 27th of last month and then neglected it.

According to the autopsy results from the police, no visible fractures or injuries were found on the deceased baby.

A man is living with Ms. A, but he claims he did not know about the birth as he leaves for work early every morning and is rarely at home.

The police plan to conduct a detailed analysis of the cause of death and consider whether to arrest the cohabiting man and apply for an arrest warrant for Ms. A.
