When Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, confessed to her battle with cancer, those who had raised various conspiracy theories about her identity were left embarrassed.

According to Yonhap News on the 24th, Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, revealed her battle with cancer in a video message posted on her official social media account on the 22nd (local time).

The news of their cancer battle, coming from the princess, who was still young at 42 and had always been bursting with health, left many who had made her a target of gossip bewildered.

The Guardian, a British daily newspaper, reported on the 23rd (local time) that thousands of users on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X (the former Twitter) expressed regret for their past comments after the princess’s statement was released.

On X, CEO Linda Yaccarino stepped forward, praising the “brave message delivered with Princess of Wales’s unique grace” and stating that “her request to protect her privacy so she can protect her children and move forward seems reasonable.”

In an interview, Dana, 58, a Georgia resident, told The Washington Post (WP) that she felt ashamed for laughing at rumors about princess just a short while ago.

“I lost my mother to cancer not too long ago. What kind of person am I? I was shocked at my inhuman behavior,” she blamed herself.

Dana added, “The problem is social media. Some too many people freely spew the most offensive words and think they’ve done nothing wrong. What we continue to spread is this terrible energy.”

Author Quinn Cummings, who posted conspiracy theories about a princess on Threads, took down the post and admitted, “I was wrong.”

However, Cummings criticized the incompetence of the royal PR department, saying, “They don’t seem to have learned a single thing from the death of the late Princess Diana.”

Last month, Tara Grace, 26, from Ireland, tweeted that the Princess of Wales, Kate, had undergone plastic surgery. She also deleted the tweet, saying, “I should take full responsibility.”

Not everyone has changed their stance. Stand-up comedian and TV writer Skyler Higley said he doesn’t regret his jokes about Princess Kate’s “mystery” at all.

Higley argued, “Cancer is serious, but we didn’t joke about cancer. It was a joke about how Buckingham Palace officially handles it.”

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that Princess Kate and Prince of Wales, William, were deeply moved by the warmth and support from the public in the UK and worldwide following Princess Kate’s public disclosure of her illness.
