According to the police on the 23rd, the East Yongin Police Station in Gyeonggi Province is investigating a Paralympian who has been charged with violating the law on the protection of children and adolescents (purchase of sex, etc.) in February.

He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a high school student whom he met through a dating app last December in exchange for money. Upon learning of this, the victim’s parents filed a complaint against him with the police earlier this year.

Since 2019, he has been paying for the premium services of this app and conversing with women. He recently met the minor victim, and it was found that he met B last December under the condition of paying money.

On the day of the crime, it was revealed that he changed the depositor’s name and transferred 400,000 won (about $335) to the victim’s account. He also continued to contact her to plan their next meeting.

During the investigation, he claimed, “I didn’t know that the victim was a minor at the time. I indeed gave money because she needed it for her pet’s medical expenses, but our meeting was purely platonic.” He has denied all charges.

Meanwhile, he is known to have been a national representative who participated in the 32nd Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan, in 2021.
