North Korea launched a ballistic missile each at intervals of 10 minutes in the direction of the northeast from the vicinity of Changyon County in South Hwanghae Province at 5:05 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. on the 1st.

According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) launched by North Korea first flew about 600 kilometers (372 miles), and the ballistic missile launched 10 minutes later flew about 120 kilometers (74 miles).

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said, “The South Korean military immediately detected and tracked the launch of North Korean missiles. We shared related information closely with the U.S. and Japan. “U.S. and South Korean intelligence agencies are analyzing the data in depth.

They strongly condemned North Korea’s missile launch as a clear provocation that seriously threatens peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. They also stated, “Under the solid ROK-U.S. joint defense posture, the South Korean military will maintain the capability and posture to respond overwhelmingly to any provocation, keeping a close eye on North Korea’s various activities.”

The South Korean presidential office also held a security situation review meeting on the day of North Korea’s missile launch and discussed response measures with military authorities, among other things. Yin Sung Hwan, the second deputy director of the National Security Office, presided over the meeting for about 20 minutes from 6:40 a.m., checking the intention of the provocation and the response posture.

Meanwhile, North Korea test-fired a hypersonic ballistic missile around 5:30 a.m. on the 26th of last month from the vicinity of Pyongyang. Regarding the failed launch, North Korea claimed through the Rodong Sinmun at that time that the test was conducted to assess multiple warhead acquisition.

However, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff addressed the possibility of a hypersonic missile launch and concluded that it failed. They observed that the North Korean missile demonstrated signs of unstable flight from the initial ascent stage and exploded mid-air. The South Korean military evaluated North Korea’s claim as exaggeration and deceit.
