North Korea Prepares to Blow Up Roads as Border Tensions Hit Boiling Point

On Monday, South Korean military officials reported signs of demolition work along the Donghae Line and Gyeongui Line roads, which North Korea had prepared. This development follows North Korea’s recent declaration that it would sever all land routes connecting the two Koreas.

According to Yonhap News, South Korean military forces are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of soldiers as tensions rise.

Since the start of this year, North Korean forces have been blocking roads and railways between the two nations. Last week, they announced a complete territorial separation, cutting off the Donghae and Gyeongui Line links to South Korea.

On Sunday, North Korea heightened military tensions by ordering artillery units near the border to be fully prepared for firing, claiming that a South Korean drone infiltrated Pyongyang and distributed anti-North Korean leaflets.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the military is closely monitoring North Korean activities and is fully prepared for any potential provocations.

In response to North Korea’s accusation that a South Korean drone caused the heightened tensions, Seoul strongly denied the claim, urging North Korea to cease what they described as “squalid and vulgar” actions.
