Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of collaborating with Israel in its airstrike against Iran.

In an interview with Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday, he stated, “The Americans clearly participated in the attack.”

He emphasized that the U.S. provided air corridors for Israeli aircraft and supplied defensive equipment, which he considers clear involvement in the operation, underscoring the evident participation of the U.S.

“In our view, the complicity of the United States in the crimes of the Zionist regime and in creating tension in the region is quite obvious,” he added.

In response to the widespread international condemnation of Israel’s attack, Araghchi acknowledged that the level of global criticism has been exceptionally high.

On the same day, AFP reported that Iran’s Foreign Ministry urged the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency meeting to condemn Israel’s airstrike.

Araghchi also said that they have sent letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, urging an emergency Council meeting to address this act of aggression decisively.

Israel announced that it had attacked Iran’s mainland for approximately four hours the previous day. In response, Iran claimed, “We carried out targeted and precise attacks against military targets in Iran – and thwarted immediate threats to the State of Israel.”

This airstrike came after Iran launched over 180 missiles targeting Israel on October 1.

Iran indicated that this was retaliation for the assassination of key leaders from the Palestinian militant group Hamas and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
