Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially endorsed Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election. With the election around the corner, Schwarzenegger has made headlines by joining Hollywood’s voting brigade for Harris alongside popular celebrities like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and George Clooney.

Schwarzenegger’s endorsement is significant, as he is a former Republican who served as California’s governor from 2003 to 2011. This further solidifies Hollywood’s anti-Trump stance.

On Wednesday, Schwarzenegger shared his views on social media, acknowledging that many were interested in his perspective on the election due to his experience as a Republican governor. He candidly expressed his dissatisfaction with both the Republican and Democratic parties, stating, “I will always be an American before I am a Republican.” He announced his intention to vote for Kamala Harris and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.

In remarks directed at former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, Schwarzenegger, didn’t hold back: “He will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger.”

He followed with a pointed critique: “A candidate who won’t respect your vote unless it is for him, a candidate who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me but helped no one else, a candidate who thinks Americans who disagree with him are the bigger enemies than China, Russia, or North Korea – that won’t solve our problems.”

Hollywood, known for its progressive leanings, has long been a Democratic stronghold. This tradition of supporting the party through fundraising and campaign events continues this election year, with celebrities like Beyoncé, rock star Bruce Springsteen, actor Samuel L. Jackson, and director Spike Lee participating in Vice President Harris’s campaign.

As anti-Trump sentiment grows in Hollywood, some argue that pro-Trump celebrities are finding fewer opportunities in the industry. The list of entertainers supporting former President Trump is relatively short, including Jon Voight (better known as Angelina Jolie’s father), Dennis Quaid, Kid Rock, and Kanye West.
