inews24 Views

In a significant development during the ongoing conflict with Russia, the Ukrainian military announced the capture of a North Korean soldier in the Kursk region of Russia. The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) revealed the capture through their official military news outlet, Militarnyi, on December 26 and shared related images on Telegram.

The photos show the captured soldier, who appears to have suffered significant injuries, though details on his treatment and current condition are not yet confirmed. If confirmed as a North Korean soldier, this would be the first known capture of a North Korean troop by Ukrainian forces.

This comes amid reports that North Korea has deployed over 11,000 troops to support Russian forces in the conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday that more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in the Kursk region.

Ukrainian forces have claimed to have engaged North Korean soldiers and neutralized them using drones. Recently, they also released a letter allegedly found on a deceased North Korean soldier.
