The Korea Tourism Organization, Pokémon Korea Inc., and the Jeju Tourism Organization have joined forces to launch an exciting new initiative: the “2025 Pokémon Jeju Project: Pokémon Wonder Island in Jeju,” as announced on Thursday.
Visitors can look forward to a range of captivating attractions, including a Pokémon-themed photo zone at Jeju International Airport, an innovative Pokémon GO stamp rally across designated PokeStops in Jungmun, a pop-up store, and an interactive mission tour at Yeomiji Botanical Garden. The highlight of the event promises to be the “Pokémon Run,” a family-friendly running event making its South Korean debut.
The Pokémon GO stamp rally introduces an exciting new feature to the popular mobile game, allowing players to collect digital stamps at specific real-world locations. This Jeju-exclusive feature marks its Korean premiere, offering participants the chance to win prizes while exploring the island’s scenic beauty.
The Pokémon RUN will take participants on a unique journey along the cart paths of Jungmun Golf Course, offering breathtaking views of Jeju’s mountains and ocean. Event organizers are billing it as a “new Pokémon experience for the whole family.”
“This project couldn’t come at a more crucial time for Jeju’s tourism sector, which has been grappling with a three-year decline in domestic visitors,” a KTO representative stated. “We’re optimistic that this initiative will not only revitalize local tourism but also showcase a fresh side of the Jungmun Tourism Complex to a global audience.”
