Universal Studios has announced that its highly anticipated new theme park, Epic Universe, will open on May 22, 2025.

According to CNN, Epic Universe, located at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, will span an impressive 32.3 million square feet (approximately 741 acres).

This makes it significantly larger than the combined area of the existing Universal Orlando Resort theme parks. For example, Universal Studios Florida covers 5.4 million square feet (about 124 acres), and Universal’s Islands of Adventure spans approximately 4.7 million square feet (about 108 acres).

Epic Universe will be divided into five distinct areas: Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.

In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic area, visitors can enjoy a thrilling elevator-style attraction called “Battle in the Ministry of Magic.” Aligned with its theme, the park will also feature a magic live show to enhance the experience.

The Super Nintendo World has already gained popularity at Universal Studios, Hollywood, and Japan. It recreates the Super Mario universe, and guests can enjoy attractions from Nintendo games, such as the Mario Kart ride.

How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk offers Viking and dragon-themed attractions, including a dragon-shaped roller coaster and a Viking ship water slide. Visitors can also watch a live show featuring how to tame a giant dragon.

The Dark Universe area is themed around a town devastated by Frankenstein’s bizarre experiments. It features an attraction where guests flee from monsters like werewolves and vampires.

Visitors can enjoy a spaceship-themed roller coaster and a zodiac carousel in the lush Celestial Park.

Dennis Speigel, CEO of International Theme Park Services, a global theme park consultancy, anticipates that Epic Universe will attract over 6 million visitors within its first 12 months of operation. The Loews Hotel, located within Epic Universe and featuring 500 rooms, will also open on the same day as Epic Universe’s opening. Online reservations for Epic Universe tickets and hotel rooms began on October 22 through the Universal Orlando Resort’s official website.
