The prestigious American Major League Baseball (MLB) team, LA Dodgers, won big against the Kiwoom Heroes.

The Dodgers triumphed with a 14-3 victory in the special game against Kiwoom Heroes held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 17th as part of the 2024 MLB World Tour Seoul Series. “Superstar” Shohei Ohtani, who started as the second designated hitter, had no hits in two at-bats, no hit, and two strikeouts, but the Dodgers won overwhelmingly.

Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers demonstrated a stellar performance with a home run and three hits, and Jason Heyward recorded four hits and three RBIs. Starting pitcher Michael Grove showcased perfect pitching with four strikeouts in two innings.

Kiwoom’s ace, Ariel Jurado, struck out Ohtani in two at-bats but became the losing pitcher after allowing four runs in four innings. The second pitcher, Son Hyun Gi, also allowed four runs in 1 innings. In batting, Song Sung Mun recorded two hits and two RBIs.

The Dodgers started off strong in the first inning with a massive home run. In a situation with two outs and no runners on base in the top of the first, Freeman hit a home run that struck the right-side scoreboard. The Dodgers, riding on this momentum, created a no-out first and second base situation in the top of the second inning through consecutive base-on-balls by Teoscar Hernandez and James Outman.

At this point, Heyward’s timely run-batted-in (RBI) hit and Gavin Lux’s RBI with a ground ball scored 3-0.

In the top of the third, the Dodgers widened the score gap to 4-0 with an RBI by Outman, following a chance created by Max Muncy’s base-on-balls and Hernandez’s hit with one out and runners on first and third.

Kiwoom struggled against the strong pitching of the Dodgers’ starting pitcher Grove, but in the bottom of the third, Song Sung Moon made the team’s first hit against pitcher Alex Vesia. However, the subsequent batters all struck out, failing to score.

Ultimately, Kiwoom scored a point in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by Choi Joo Hwan, following a chance created by Dawson’s hit and steal with one out and a runner on second.

However, the Dodgers pulled ahead to a score of 8-1 in the fifth inning alone, scoring four runs with four hits and three base-on-balls. The Dodgers also scored five runs in the seventh inning, sealing the game with a 14-3 victory.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers will play their second special game against Team Korea on the 18th.
