Tiger Woods (USA) has shown a strong desire to compete for victory in the second major golf tournament of the season, the PGA Championship, with a healthy body.

Woods held a press conference at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, three days before the tournament’s start on the 15th.

At this event, Woods stated, “I’m in good shape. I’ve improved my game,” showing confidence by adding, “I still think I can win. I can still putt well around the green.”

In February, he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational due to the flu. He made the cut, but as his stamina declined, his performance deteriorated, resulting in his worst score and finishing last in the tournament.

After taking a month off, Woods admitted, “My shots are still okay,” but added, “However, I’m having difficulty recovering after giving my best in practice or during games.”

He pointed out the need for stamina and focus in the last four rounds, saying, “I played well for the first two days at the Masters, but I didn’t do well in rounds 3 and 4. I must maintain my performance from rounds 1 and 2 of the Masters for all three days.”

Woods, who showed up early at the Valhalla Golf Club on the 13th, explained, “I need to be mentally and physically prepared before the first round because I don’t compete often. That’s why I practice here and even eat at the golf course. That’s the reason I came here early. After preparing everything and examining the green, I’m ensuring I can concentrate on the game.”

Woods also praised Scottie Scheffler (USA), who has already won four times this year, including the Masters, saying, “He’s a player who makes the top 10 even when his putting is terrible and wins when his putting is good.”
