Shohei Ohtani Accelerates Elbow Injury Rehab, Eyes Pitching Comeback

Daniel Kim Views

Ohtani Shohei of the LA Dodgers is accelerating his rehabilitation process in anticipation of his return as a pitcher.

On May 28, before the game against the New York Mets at Citi Field was canceled due to rain, Ohtani discussed his pitching rehabilitation status in an interview with the press.

He shared that he started throwing the ball from 60 feet out last week and reached a speed of 80mph.

“Usually anywhere from 60-70 [throws],” Ohtani said through translator Will Ireton when asked where he was progressing.

Ohtani underwent surgery on his right elbow last September and has only been on the field as a hitter. However, he plans to resume his pitcher and hitter role next year.

After the opening game against the San Diego Padres at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, Ohtani returned to his home country to resume intense pitching training.

Even while focusing solely on batting, Ohtani has achieved impressive results, leading the Major League in batting average (0.336) and total bases (131 total bases).

He also leads the National League in slugging percentage (0.621) and on-base plus slugging (OPS) at 1.024.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of superstar Ohtani Shohei.
