Biden-Trump Tied in ‘Super Tuesday’ Polls

Daniel Kim Views

As the “rematch” between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump intensifies, a poll released on the 7th (local time) showed that both candidates had equal support. The poll did not reflect President Biden’s State of the Union Address on the 7th, leaving room for speculation about future trends.

On the 10th (local time), Emerson College in the US announced the results of a poll conducted on the 5th and 6th, surveying 1,350 voters. The findings showed that President Biden and former President Trump had an equal support rate of 45%.

President Biden, who had previously lagged in the support race after tying with former President Trump at 45% in the same poll last September, is believed to have experienced a rebound somewhat in support after the confirmation of two candidates on the 5th, also referred to as “Super Wednesday.”

In this poll, 10% of respondents said they haven’t decided whom to support yet. Among these respondents, when asked “which candidate they lean towards,” 51% said they support President Biden, leading former President Trump (49%) by 2 points.

However, when a third candidate was introduced into the poll, former President Trump emerged as the frontrunner with 43%, while President Biden trailed closely behind at 42%. Other responses included Robert Kennedy Jr. 6%, Cornel West 2%, and Jill Stein 1%.

The primary reason for supporting President Biden was “disliking former President Trump,” which accounted for 30% of the responses. On the other hand, the biggest factor (33%) for supporting former President Trump was “liking former President Trump.”

On major issues, there were more responses that former President Trump would do better on immigration and border security issues and the conflict between Israel and the armed Palestinian faction Hamas. Meanwhile, President Biden had much stronger support (58%) for his stance on abortion issues.
