The White House has urged Israel, which is conducting military operations in the Gaza Strip, to change its strategy.

John Kirby, United States National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications, stated this on CBS News “Face the Nation” on the 7th (local time).

Kirby said, “Too many relief workers were killed due to Israeli operations last week,” adding, “That’s why President Joe Biden was firm in his conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.” He continued, “Israel needs to continue to change its ground war tactics and humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip.”

Previously, the Israeli military had killed seven relief workers in the Gaza Strip due to misfired bombs. The Israeli government has taken measures, such as dismissing two officers involved in the misfire, but criticism from around the world continues.

The Israeli military later announced that it had withdrawn a significant number of troops from Khan Younis in southern Gaza. However, Kirby downplayed the move, saying it was “for rest and troop reorganization.” He explained, “We don’t know how Israel will handle the troops after they finish resting and reorganizing.”

He further emphasized, “We don’t want a large-scale ground war in Rafah. We look forward to discussing alternatives to ground warfare with Israel.”
