Donald Trump, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate, announced on June 6th (local time) that he raised $50.5 million in a single day at a fundraising event in Florida.

This is approximately double the $26 million President Joe Biden raised last month at a fundraising event he held with former Presidents Obama and Bill Clinton.

According to The New York Times, on the 7th, Trump hosted a fundraising event in Palm Beach, Florida, the previous day. Approximately 120 people attended the event, hosted by billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson. They included attendees like Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets football team, oil tycoon Harold Hamm, and sugar magnate Jose Fanjul.

Tickets to sit at the head table with President Trump were priced at $810,600 (approximately 1.1 billion won), while seats elsewhere cost $250,000. Both ticket options included taking a photo with Trump and his coffee table book featuring pictures from the Trump administration.

During the event, Trump gave a 45-minute speech, stating, “Success will be our only revenge.” His wife, Melania, who was absent from political events during this election cycle, also attended the event for the first time. Melania will also host a fundraising event for the conservative-leaning LGBTQ group “Log Cabin Republicans” later this month.

Although Trump’s campaign raised $50.5 million from the event, there is still a significant gap in total funds compared to President Biden. According to The New York Times, as of last month, Biden’s campaign funds amounted to $192 million, more than Trump’s $93.1 million.

However, The Wall Street Journal reported that there is still a lot of financial capacity left among Trump’s big donors. According to the Journal, Sheldon Adelson, chairman of the Las Vegas Sands Group, known as the Casino Emperor, and Paul Singer, president of Elliott Management, have not yet donated to Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump plans to hold another high-dollar fundraising event in Atlanta on the 10th.
