Trump’s Bid for Presidency: A Billion-Dollar Bargain with Oil Executives

globalautonews Views

Donald Trump, who is running for his second term in the 2024 Presidential Election always attracts attention with his comments. He’s good at such strategies. According to The Washington Post, he told oil company executives that he would end the electric vehicle incentives if they donated $1 billion to his election campaign.

It’s well known that Trump opposes electric cars. During his last term, he tried to implement policies to delay the adoption of electric vehicles at the request of some automakers. In the 2020 budget proposal, he attempted to eliminate tax deductions for electric cars, but it was not passed. Despite this, he tried reverting the vehicle emissions standards to the original.

Through his 2024 election campaign, Trump has made it even more apparent that he opposes all initiatives to accelerate the launch of electric cars.

The Washington Post (WP) reported last month that a source was present at a meeting between President Trump and oil company executives at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club. The outlet claimed that Trump proposed to them when asked about his plans to record environmental regulations.

Trump is well-known for not using his own money for election campaigns. So this time, he reportedly asked oil company executives to raise $1 billion if they wanted him to become president. He also promised to immediately roll back dozens of President Biden’s environmental regulations and policies and block the enactment of new laws.

Trump’s policy is not just a problem for the United States. His unpredictable nature could go anywhere. Yet, on the morning of May 10, Elon Musk of Tesla left a message hoping for Trump’s election.

Trump’s attitude toward confusing the issue and inciting conflict to achieve his goals remains unchanged.
