On the 30th (local time), President Joe Biden’s team released a statement regarding the criminal trial verdict of former President Donald Trump, stating, “No one is above the law.”

According to reports from media outlets, including NBC, the Biden presidential campaign announced this statement through X immediately after the news broke that the jury in Trump’s criminal trial for hush money allegations had found Trump guilty on all 34 charges.

The communications director for Biden’s campaign, Michael Tyler, stated, “Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his gain.” He continued, “There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”

The White House released a brief statement through Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the Legal Advisor Office, in response to the news of Trump’s guilty verdict, stating, “We respect the rule of law, and have no additional comment.”

A jury of 12 New York residents reached a unanimous agreement on the second day of deliberations at the Manhattan District Court in New York State, finding Trump guilty on all 34 charges related to the hush-money allegations. The sentencing for the guilty verdict is set for July 11.

Before the 2016 presidential election, Trump had his lawyer, Michael Cohen, pay $130,000 on his behalf to silence adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed to have had a sexual relationship with him. He later repaid this amount with company money, leading to the breach of duty.

With the verdict, Trump has become the first former president in U.S. history to be convicted in a criminal trial.

It is expected Trump will appeal immediately. After the jury’s verdict, he said, “This was a disgrace, a rigged trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people.” He added, “We didn’t do a thing wrong. I’m a very innocent man. It’s OK, I’m fighting for our country, I’m fighting for our Constitution.”

Despite the guilty verdict, it is still possible for Trump to run for president. However, it is speculated that this will be a huge blow to Trump’s hopes for re-election.
