Top CEOs Turn Their Backs on Trump’s 2024 Bid

The survey has shown that former President Donald Trump is the least supported candidate in the history of the Republican Party by major businesses.

According to Axios on the 25th (local time), none of the top 100 businessmen selected by Fortune have supported former President Trump. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, Head of the Yale Management Studies Institute, conducted the survey.

Axios analyzed this survey, stating “Just because American companies have serious issues with President Joe Biden does not mean they are in the Trump camp.”

Trump received no support from the top 100 companies when he first ran in 2016. When he ran for re-election as the incumbent president in 2020, only the CEOs of two out of the top 100 companies stepped forward to support him.

In contrast, George W. Bush, the last Republican incumbent president to run for re-election, received support from 42 CEOs of the top 100 companies in 2004. Although about two-thirds of major business people are registered Republicans, Axios reported that they are not necessarily part of Trump’s extreme support base, MAGA.

Sonnenfeld wrote in the New York Times (NYT), “Today’s top American entrepreneurs do not favor both Trump and Biden. They can only endure one side and fear the other.”

However, unlike the companies, major investors in the United States are relatively more likely to support Trump. Notably, Blackstone Founder Stephen A. Schwarzman and billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson are showing support for former Trump.
