Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called French President Emmanuel Macron a “disgrace” after halting military supplies to Isreal. This was due to Western nations calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and discontinuing military support for Israel.

According to Reuters, Netanyahu told Macron during a phone call, “[halting military] will only strengthen the Iranian axis of evil.”

The day before, Netanyahu criticized Macron and other Western nations for imposing a ban on arms exports to Israel, stating, “Like everyone, Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorism. Attacks against Israel and its citizens must cease, whether they are carried out by Iran or its proxies in the region.”

Recently, Macron emphasized in an interview that “The priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza.” He also stressed, “France will not supply any weapons.”

During the phone call, Netanyahu underscored that France should stand by Israel. He stated, “Israel’s friends are expected to stand behind it and not impose restrictions.'”

The official residence of the French president, the Élysée Palace, reported that Macron expressed France’s support for Israel. Nonetheless, he also revealed the necessity for a ceasefire.
