Reports have emerged that Russian forces have used at least 60 ballistic missiles provided by North Korea in the war in Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian media outlet RBC, Andriy Cherniak, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIU), stated on Tuesday that Russian forces have launched 60 missiles received from North Korea so far. Previously, the outlet had reported that North Korea had supplied over 100 ballistic missiles to Russia, including the KN-23 (known in North Korea as Hwasong-11) and KN-24 (known as Hwasong-11A).

Cherniak explained, “We constantly see the movement of cargo and containers. We do not exclude the possibility that there may be artillery ammunition manufactured by North Korea already in its warehouses. Yes, this is also a huge danger for Ukraine because, in addition to Russia’s own military industry and capabilities, it also uses ammunition coming from North Korea.”

Ukraine has called on Western nations to ramp up military support in response to North Korea’s significant supply of military weapons to Russia. Cherniak highlighted that although Russia has its military supplies, it heavily relies on North Korean ammunition, which he described as posing a serious threat to Ukraine.
