Stray Kids Becomes First K-Pop Boy Group to Perform at Iconic French Charity Event

joynews24 Views

Stray Kids has become the first K-pop boy group to perform at a charity concert in France, expanding their global influence.

Stray Kids made history by being the first K-pop boy group to participate in the Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes held at the Accor Arena in Paris, France, on the 26th (local time). This event, organized by the French hospital foundation Opération Pièces Jaunes and chaired by France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron, aims to raise funds to help hospitalized children and teenagers. This year, the event was graced by famous artists, including Stray Kids, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Maroon 5, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams.

Stray Kids performed their title song, “S-Class,” and the B-side track “TOPLINE (Feat. Tiger JK)” from their third full-length album, 5-STAR, which ranked first on the Billboard 200 for the third time, as well as “God’s Menu.” Notably, “God’s Menu” was performed with a massive orchestra, adding grandeur and heating the venue. The eight members showcased a fantastic live performance with their unique, powerful energy on stage, creating a spectacle with the cheers and shouts of numerous fans holding their glowing light sticks.

Stray Kids achieved notable success in France last year. In July 2023, they captivated around 60,000 audiences as the first K-pop artist headliner at the local large-scale music festival Lollapalooza Paris. Recently, their third full-length album, 5-STAR, released in June last year, ranked 52nd, and their mini-album Le-STAR, released in November, ranked 135th on the 2023 Top 200 Albums chart announced by the French Record Association (SNEP). This is the highest ranking among K-pop artists on the chart and marks the highest sales of K-pop albums in France last year, demonstrating their strong local popularity.

Meanwhile, Stray Kids has been proving their status by setting significant records since the beginning of 2024. They have been nominated for the Group & Duo of the Year category at the People’s Choice Awards to be held on February 18th, and for the K-pop Artist of the Year and K-pop Song of the Year categories at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards to be held on April 1st.
