Uber is stepping up its safety features, which have been raised repeatedly.

On the 10th (local time), Uber they were announced that it is enhancing safety features for passengers worldwide, including minimizing the risk for female passengers using the service at night and ensuring their security.

The features will allow passengers to choose up to four safety settings during their ride, including encrypted audio recording, PIN verification, and live location sharing.

Uber stated that these safety settings are available across the United States, Canada, and Latin America and will expand to more countries in the coming weeks.

Uber has faced scrutiny for years over its response to thousands of allegations of driver assaults, with complaints ranging from failing to conduct proper identity checks on drivers to failing to provide adequate safety training.

Uber has been accused of thousands of assaults by its drivers over the years, with complaints that the company fails to conduct proper identity checks on its drivers or provide adequate safety training to its drivers.

Currently, Uber is facing lawsuits related to incidents where drivers sexually assaulted female passengers.

Uber revealed in 2022 that about 3,800 reports of sexual assault were filed in the U.S. in 2019 and 2020, a decrease from nearly 6,000 cases reported over the previous two years.

Uber has also focused on ensuring road safety for motorcycle delivery workers. Last year, Uber Eats, its food delivery platform, signed a treaty in London to prevent road accidents.
