There is a growing interest in why a Chinese actor smashed his iPhone on the ground.
Famous Chinese actor Liu Jin, known for his roles in Angel’s Happiness and Green Love, recently posted a video on his Weibo account. In the video, Liu Jin smashes his iPhone on the ground multiple times in front of an Apple store.
Liu Jin came to the store to have his iPhone repaired but was denied free repair service because they claimed he had unauthorized modifications. When he was told the repair would cost approx. $1,050, he threw his iPhone on the ground in front of the store, proclaiming, “I’ve never modified it. From now on, I will never buy the arrogant and oppressive Apple products.”
The video went viral quickly and even topped real-time search rankings.
As more customers hesitated to buy an iPhone due to the expensive repair costs, Apple finally decided to keep a low profile.
On the 11th (local time), Apple announced that starting this fall, they will allow iPhones to be repaired with used parts, not just original ones.
Until now, Apple only allowed repairs with new parts through a parts pairing process. Now, repairs can also be done with used original parts, which is expected to lower repair costs.
The parts that can be repaired with used parts include displays, batteries, and cameras. However, this will only be possible for iPhones released since last year, starting with iPhone 15.
