According to Reuters, the aftershocks were even felt in Taipei’s capital city, where buildings shook.

According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, the Fouquet Hotel on Zhongshan Road in Hualien City tilted in the quake, prompting police and fire officials to check for casualties and other damage.

The media said the building has been undergoing renovation recently, and the police and fire officials are currently setting up a perimeter around the neighborhood to keep people away.

Hualien County has been experiencing a series of large and small aftershocks for the past three days. On the 21st, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred, followed by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake on the 22nd.

According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, Director Wu Jianfu of the Seismological Center of the Central Weather Bureau said of the recent earthquakes, “They are believed to be aftershocks of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred three days ago,” adding, “Since April April 3e have been 935 occurrences of mainshocks and aftershocks.”

On the 3rd, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Hualien County in Taiwan, causing building collapses and casualties. At the time, it was reported that the quake killed 17 people and injured more than 1,100 people.
