Tesla’s Cybertruck Recall Hits 11,383 Units: What You Need to Know

Daniel Kim Views

Tesla is recalling its Cybertruck electric pickup truck due to issues with both interior and exterior trims.

Back in April, nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks were recalled to address an issue where the acceleration pedal pad could become loose and potentially get caught in the interior trim.

According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is recalling 11,383 pickup trucks to prevent accidents since the trim attached to the trunk bed has the potential to be improperly installed and could loosen.

This recall is the latest setback for this vehicle, which is slated for mass production next year. Tesla has not yet disclosed the number of trucks distributed to consumers in its quarterly delivery and production reports.

In the recall approval document, the NHTSA stated, “Excessive current could cause a failure in the front windshield wiper motor controller.”

The Tesla service team has announced that they will make a supplant for the wiper motor, apply adhesive promoter and pressure sensing tape, or replace any missing trim on the affected vehicles free of charge.

After years of delays and difficult production increases, Tesla began drop-shipping the Cybertruck, inspired by Blade Runner, in November of last year.

According to a report by a recall management company, Tesla had three recalls affecting about 2.4 million vehicles in the first quarter of this year. This includes 2.2 million vehicles recalled in the U.S. due to incorrect letter sizing on warning lights.
