Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that 12,000 North Korean troops would soon be deployed to Russia.

According to AFP, Zelenskyy shared this news during a press conference in Iceland on Monday, where he attended the 4th Ukraine-Nordic Summit on Monday. He revealed that approximately 3,000 North Korean soldiers and officers are already stationed on Russian soil. He emphasized, “Russia will use them in the war against Ukraine.”

Earlier, Hong Jang Won, the First Deputy Director of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), confirmed the deployment of 12,000 troops during his visit to NATO headquarters.

NK News, a North Korea-focused media outlet, reported that a Russian Air Force plane made an unusual stop in North Korea before heading to Ukraine.

This was the third official flight between Russia and North Korea since North Korea sent thousands of troops to Russia earlier in October. This sparked speculation that Russia may be moving North Korean military personnel to the battlefield.

When asked to forecast the potential reduction of support for Ukraine if Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the upcoming presidential election, Zelenskyy responded, “I haven’t heard him say anything like that.”
