Tesla is initiating a recall of 2,431 Cybertrucks to replace a faulty drive inverter.

According to CNBC’s report on Wednesday, this marks the sixth recall for the Cybertruck in just one year since its launch.

Tesla explained, “If the inverter stops producing torque, the driver loses the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal resulting in a loss of propulsion, which may increase the risk of a collision.”

A previous recall addressed an issue where the backup camera image failed to display correctly after shifting into reverse. Tesla resolved the problem via an over-the-air software update. The current recall requires a physical replacement of the drive inverter.

Despite these setbacks, the Cybertruck is projected to become the third best-selling electric vehicle in the U.S. by the third quarter of 2024, trailing only Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3. With a price tag of approximately $80,000, the Cybertruck continues to generate significant interest in the American market.
