Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company Nio is stepping up to challenge Porsche by unveiling its new high-end EV, the ET9, priced over $100,000. The top-of-the-line electric sedan will launch in March 2025, with a starting price of 788,000 yuan (around $107,000), positioning it to compete with luxury models like the Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The ET9 boasts impressive performance. Its high-voltage charging system allows it to travel 650 km (404 miles) on a single charge, and even more impressively, it can travel 225 km (140 miles) with just a 5-minute charge. The sedan is equipped with an intelligent driving system powered by Nio’s self-developed semiconductors and offers a luxurious experience with 35 speakers and plenty of legroom.
In addition to the ET9, Nio introduced a new sub-brand called Firefly, designed to compete with small, stylish vehicles from brands like BMW Mini and Mercedes-Benz Smart. The Firefly’s pre-sale price is 148,800 yuan (about $20,364).
