The Tokyo Auto Salon, held annually in January, attracts car enthusiasts and industry innovators worldwide. The 2025 event, scheduled for January 10–12, promises fresh inspiration from global automakers and tuning companies. Honda’s Acty Compo is generating significant buzz among the lineup for its cutting-edge design and versatile functionality.

Originally introduced as a concept in 2002, the Acty Compo’s unique blend of practicality and innovation captured attention. Honda’s bold vision for the future of light trucks is expected to take center stage once again at this year’s Auto Salon.

Building on a Legacy of Practicality and Performance

The Acty Compo is rooted in the history of Honda’s Acty series, a light commercial vehicle line first introduced in 1977. Renowned for its practicality and performance, the Acty has long been celebrated for its midship engine rear-drive (MR) configuration and monocoque construction, laying the foundation for Honda’s success in four-wheel drive systems.

The Acty Compo concept takes this legacy a step further, combining a traditional truck head with a large, versatile trailer. This fusion creates a multi-purpose vehicle designed to bridge the gap between business needs and recreational activities, paving the way for a new class of commercial vehicles.

Cargo Space That Delivers

The Acty Compo’s impressive cargo capacity—up to 4,700 liters of trailer space—is its highlight. This makes it ideal for various uses, from delivery services to transporting camping gear or sports equipment for outdoor enthusiasts.

The electric wing gate simplifies loading and unloading, adding to its utility. Optional panels with windows or doors further enhance its adaptability, allowing users to customize the trailer for specific needs, whether for work or leisure.

Advanced Technology Meets Agile Design

Despite its larger dimensions—195.7 inches in length, 58.1 inches in width, and 78.3 inches in height—the Acty Compo is designed for exceptional maneuverability. It offers precise handling even in tight urban spaces when equipped with Honda’s electric four-wheel steering (4WS) and a steerable six-wheel system. By reducing the disparity between inner and outer wheel movements, this system enhances stability and sets a new standard for commercial vehicle performance.

Honda is expected to showcase another groundbreaking concept at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, building on the Acty Compo’s legacy. With its emphasis on versatility, cutting-edge technology, and Honda’s innovative spirit, the Acty Compo blurs the lines between commercial and leisure vehicles, setting the stage for the future of multi-purpose mobility.
