NBC News reported that United Airlines discovered a body in the wheel well of an aircraft after it landed at Kahului Airport on Maui, Hawaii, on Wednesday.

United Airlines announced that the body was found in one of the landing gear wheels of Flight 202, a Boeing 787-10 that had departed from Chicago O’Hare Airport the previous day. Before leaving Chicago, the aircraft had originated in São Paulo, Brazil.

The airline explained that the area where the body was discovered is only accessible from outside the aircraft, and it remains unclear how and when the victim gained access to the wheel compartment.

Maui police stated that they are actively investigating the incident, but no information about the deceased’s identity is available at this time.
