On the 2nd, McDonald’s in South Korea increased the prices of 16 menu items by an average of 2.8%. This marks the first price hike at McDonald’s in six months, following the last increase in November.

McDonald’s explained that the price adjustment was inevitable due to the rise in raw materials, logistics, and labor costs.

Looking at the items, the prices of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, and triple cheeseburgers each rose by 100 won (about $0.09). The bulgogi burger increased by 300 won (about $0.27), and the egg bulgogi burger went up by 400 won (about $0.36).

The prices for the Big Mac and McSpicy Shanghai burger remained the same, but the prices for the accompanying soft drinks and side dishes increased, causing the set prices to jump from 6900 won (about $6.21) to 7200 won (about $6.48), an increase of 300 won (about $0.27).

Starting the same day, Pizza Hut also raised the prices of premium menu items, including Garlic Butter Shrimp and Cheese King.

Pizza Hut raised its prices last June, citing the rise in raw materials and labor costs. It decided to increase prices again in less than a year to improve customer satisfaction.

The extent of the increase will be announced through their website and other channels after the day.
