The notice featured a picture of a laughing woman’s face with the message: “Recently, there have been complaints about a woman’s laughter. Please consider the households that rest during the day and refrain from loud noises in our shared living space.”

The whistleblower stated, “I’ve been living in this apartment for over a year, but this is the first time I’ve seen such a complaint.” He added that when he contacted the management office, they abruptly hung up during the conversation, saying, “We need to post it for at least a week.”

He added, “As of May, the controversial notice has been removed.”

The story elicited a variety of reactions from netizens.

Those who found the content of the notice absurd commented, “It’s during the day, not even night? Why not complain about breathing being too loud next,” “Just move to a single-family home instead of living in a shared building,” “Everyone has sounds they find annoying. Complaining about loud laughter is an overreaction,” “Someone must be upset seeing others happy while they are miserable.”

On the other hand, some sympathized with the complainant, saying, “There are people whose laughter is thunderous,” “If multiple people complained, there must be a problem with the person laughing,” and “They must have put it up for a reason.”

Additionally, many criticized the construction company for poor construction work, which caused noise between floors.
