The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 14th that Ri Chung Gil, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, departed Pyongyang by plane on the 13th, leading a delegation to attend the 8th Committee on Trade, Economic, and Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Government of North Korea and Russia held in Moscow as an effort to strengthen cooperation by expanding mutual visits with Russia.

The Russian Embassy in North Korea announced via its Telegram channel on the 13th that Ambassador Alexandr Matsegora saw off Chairman Ri at the Pyongyang International Airport, stating, “A vast project awaits our Joseon colleagues in Moscow,” hinted at an important schedule during the visit to Russia and an agreement to hold a Science Conference in Pyongyang in September.

The Science Conference scheduled to take place in Pyongyang in September, organized by the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Far Eastern Studies and Institute of Modern Asian Studies, will be prepared to emphasize the anniversary of the summit between the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Vladimir Putin held at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region of Russia on September 13 last year. They added the importance of bilateral relations and stability in Northeast Asia.

Accordingly, Chairman Ri is expected to talk with Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources, during his visit to Russia. He will also visit institutions such as the Moscow State University, the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, the Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

He will also visit the Russia International Exhibition Forum, a museum complex in the Kremlin.
