As an effort to idolize North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, advances, it weighs on the establishment of an independent line known as “Kim Jong Un-ism.”

On the 22nd, the Korean Central News Agency revealed a photo of Kim Jong Un’s portrait hung side by side with the former leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on the exterior wall of the Revolutionary History Museum and in classrooms at the Central Cadres Training School of the ruling Workers’ Party construction completion ceremony where Kim participated. This is the first time his portrait has joined theirs.

It is being interpreted that Kim Jong Un is working on establishing an independent line. Recent changes, such as changing Sun’s Day to April 15th, show Kim’s effort toward independent idolization. Releasing the three portraits for the first time at an educational institution responsible for party ideology education can be analyzed as strengthening his image as an ideological leader.

In 2022, Kim declared the New Age Party Construction line, and at the completion ceremony at Central Cadres Training School, he proposed New Age Party Construction as a slogan.

The principal of the Central Cadres Training School, Ri Yong Sik, mentioned, “We will make all students true revolutionaries, filled with the thoughts and theories of the respected Secretary (Kim Jong Un), and make it a school tradition to align thoughts and actions thoroughly with the intentions of the party central committee.”

Moreover, the experts analyzed that he focuses on managing future generations, regarding his particular interest in cadre training, shown by his three visits to the Workers’ Party Central Cadres Training School during the 13-month construction period.

An official from the South Korean Ministry of Unification said, “It’s very unusual and shows special interest in cadre training. During his visit on the 15th, he mentioned construct weighing on the great political significance and emphasized the importance of cadre ideological education. Furthermore, the three portraits of the Kim family were first identified at that event.”

He also predicted that “in the future, efforts will be made to highlight Kim Jong Un’s status as an ideological leader and focus on the idolization and ideological armament of party cadres.”
