A tragic accident occurred in an Indonesian gym where a woman walking on a treadmill fell through the window behind her and passed away. According to the media outlets, a 22-year-old woman died at a gym in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, on the 18th.

The security footage reveals that the woman lost her balance and stumbled on the treadmill, falling through the large open window behind her. She tried to hold onto the frame but eventually tumbled out the window.

The woman fell from a three-story building and was immediately taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, she had severe head injuries that led to her death. The autopsy revealed severe concussions and burns. The victim’s boyfriend, who was with her that day, explained, “My girlfriend was running on the treadmill, but when she stumbled, she fell backward through a window behind.”

Local authorities pointed out the gym’s poor safety measures, criticizing the treadmill’s dangerous placement. The distance between the glass door and the treadmill was about 2 feet, and the window was extremely thin. It was also problematic that it was open without any locks.

The gym representative explained, “We opened the window to clean the outside glass, but the personal trainer forgot to close it.” The gym apologized to the victim’s family and closed for three days immediately after the accident. According to the authorities, local police are investigating charges of business negligence resulting in death.
