South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Visit to the UK Sparks Interest in His Bentley Ride
The Identity of the Vehicle is Unveiled
President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, Kim Keon Hee of South Korea, embarked on a state visit to the UK on the 21st. The British royal family has provided them with a special ceremonial vehicle. The car, which appeared at London Stansted International Airport, where the presidential couple arrived, was none other than Bentley State Limousine.
Due to the President and his wife’s ride, the Bentley State Limousine has become a hot topic and might be somewhat unfamiliar even to those well aware of the brand. Let’s closely examine this vehicle’s production process and explore its features.
Bentley State Limousine: A Vehicle Made Exclusively for the Queen
Bentley, a leading UK car manufacturer, produced the special Bentley State Limousine to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. Mulliner, Bentley’s handcraft department, designed and developed it, producing only two units exclusively for the queen. The price of each unit is reportedly about $12 million. The state limousine is longer and taller than standard vehicles. The reason for the greater height is interesting – it reflects the taste of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who often wore hats. With a higher vehicle, there’s no need to take off the hat when getting in or out of the car, thus preserving the dignity of the royalty. The vehicle’s dimensions are 6,220mm long, 2,000mm in width, 1,770mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,884mm.
A Showcase of Bentley’s Technological Prowess: Parade-Specific Options Included
One of the features of this vehicle, which the queen and royal family members use, is its special bulletproof treatment for stringent passenger protection. It comes equipped with all the advanced specifications currently owned by Bentley. It also includes a 6.4km/h fixed-speed cruise control feature designed with royal parades in mind. The vehicle uses a powertrain combination of a 6.75L Rolls-Royce-Bentley L-series V8 twin-turbo engine and GM’s 4L80-E type 4-speed automatic transmission. This combination delivers a maximum output of 400 horsepower and a maximum torque of 85.2 kg.m. The top speed is confirmed to be as high as 209 km/h.
Currently Used by Charles III: Former President Park Geun Hye Also Rode in It
With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September last year, the Bentley State Limousine lost its owner and is now in use by Charles III, who inherited the throne. Charles III used this vehicle to move from the royal residence to Buckingham Palace on his coronation day. Meanwhile, President Yoon Suk-yeol became the second South Korean President to ride in the Bentley State Limousine while visiting the UK. The first South Korean President to ride in this vehicle was the 18th President, former President Park Geun-hye. At that time, Park had a rather unfortunate accident when she tripped while getting out of the car due to the coach doors that opened in the opposite direction, attracting attention.
