Singapore Embraces Nuclear Energy for Sustainability

theguru Views

Singapore is planning to construct a nuclear power plant.

According to the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy on the 24th, Singapore is considering introducing nuclear energy to reduce carbon emissions in the power sector and secure energy security.

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) is visiting countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany, collaborating with international organizations and governments, and researching advanced nuclear and fusion technology and safety in densely populated areas.

Singapore’s push for nuclear energy is being carried out in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UK Atomic Energy Authority, and the Max Planck Institute in Germany.

Singapore is strengthening regional nuclear safety and emergency measures with its ASEAN partners. It considers the potential for geothermal power generation and the importation of clean power from neighboring countries.

Singapore’s Energy Future Report predicts that nuclear energy could meet about 10% of energy demand by 2050.
