With the iPhone 16 series launch expected this fall, news about the iPhone 17 has already been reported.

Yonhap News

Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Tech Research, reported on the 6th (local time) that Apple is developing an iPhone 17 Slim model.

Jeff Pu explained that the Slim model will replace the existing Plus model. He added that it would feature an approximately 6.6-inch display, a thinner design, an A18 or A19 chip, 8GB RAM, a 24-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

Furthermore, Jeff Pu reported that the iPhone 17 Slim will use an aluminum chassis instead of the titanium material used in the Pro lineup. He explained some design changes but did not share specific details.

Display analyst Ross Young mentioned that the iPhone 17 Plus or iPhone 17 Slim will feature a 6.55-inch display. The current iPhone 15 Plus model is equipped with a 6.7-inch display.

With the news that the Slim model could replace the Plus model, some online communities have agreed this is likely, citing the Plus model’s poor sales.

Tech media MacRumors reported on the 2nd the sales data of iPhone models in the US for the first quarter of this year. According to the data, the iPhone 15 Plus showed lower sales than its predecessor, the iPhone 14.

So far, there has been no official announcement from Apple regarding the Slim model. As there is still plenty of time until the release of the iPhone 17, more detailed information is expected to emerge later.

Meanwhile, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 series in September 2025.
