[Alpha Economy=(Madrid) Special Correspondent Shin Jung-hoon] Recently, Germany’s Lufthansa publicly called to resolve the ongoing issues with Boeing.
On the 12th, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr addressed Boeing’s recent problems and the consequent delivery delay to the company.
In an interview, Spohr said, “Boeing’s delay in delivering aircraft is extremely annoying and costly, but Boeing should be able to solve the problem,” adding, “Everyone hopes that Boeing will be able to build a reliable, good aircraft again soon.”
Furthermore, Spohr mentioned Boeing’s European competitor, Airbus, stating the industry needs two strong suppliers.
On the other hand, Spohr downplayed the prospect when asked about purchasing Chinese aircraft.
He said, “Considering the safety standards applied in the Lufthansa Group, I don’t think it will be realistic for years to come.”
Spohr also expressed optimism that Lufthansa’s planned stake purchase in the Italian airline ITA would receive regulatory approval and stated that the company has no intention of abandoning transcontinental flights to resolve the deadlock.
